This Classic Horizon Iron Man was really just a test subject. I'd had him sitting around - half done - for years. I need to try out a new technique and he seemed like a good choice. The idea was to get a lacquered chrome look. I stripped the old paint off, mostly (I'll give you more on that in a moment), Sprayed him Gloss Black, then Alclad Chrome, and then Tamaya Clear Yellow. Once this had dried, I masked off everything that would stay Yellow, then sprayed it with Tamaya Clear Red. Once the masking was removed, I discovered that Yellow over Chrome tends to look a little Green so I added a little Tamaya Clear Orange to the Yellow making more of an Amber color. This worked pretty well.
Now, when I say I stripped the old paint off, mostly, it’s because the original coat of Gloss Black from years ago was pretty stubborn. OK, so I couldn’t get it ALL to come off. But the effect it created was kinda cool. It has an almost rustic texture under the Chrome and lacquer. Not bad for a test, right?

Burger King Iron Man 3-D Puzzle: Another test subject. I had always intended to repaint it, and this seemed as good an opportunity as any!

Disney INFINITY 2.0 IRON MAN -
I really like the style of the sculptures. The stock model is just a little drap for my taste. I just wanted to see him in metallics.
Because IRON MAN only comes in the starter pack or the 2-pack with Black Widow,
I can't just sell him outright. You will need to send me yours. I will paint him and send him back to you. You can contact me at buildingmodels@tx.rr.com if you're interested.
There is a power disc that turns IRON MAN into the Mk 42 Armor in the game. It might be nice to have a model that represents that.

Before there was Digital Photography, I started keeping record of my work on video. These are some of those recovered images.
